XF 2.2 Why admin is not able to simple "ban" a moderator?

Hi, I just wonder why admin/superadmin is not able to ban a moderator via simple ban button like in regular users, I have to go to admin panel, remove the mod and then I can ban him. Is there any way to enable this?

Staff members can't be banned so yes, you need to demote them first.

Why they have to be demoted when there is a hierarchy? Shouldn't it be more simple than accessing the admin panel, demoting the mod and then banning it?

I suppose you don't ban a moderator every day and that such a decision is well thought out.
So a priori the small procedure seems appropriate in this case.

Well in "gaming" community banning a simple moderator that has access to a "organisation" forums he manages is more common.

Maybe add them to a special usergroup with the extra permissions you want them to have, instead of making them a full moderator, so you can easily reverse it (or just ban them)

Adding members to a user group with moderator level permissions does not make the account have moderator status.
Accounts must be explicitly promoted to be true moderators.
