    1. Intel Core i7-2600K / 32GB RAM / 2 * 1000 Gb HDD / 1 GB / s
    2. Xeon E5-2620 / 32GB RAM / 2 * 1000Gb HDD / 100 MB / s
    3. Xeon E5-1650 / 32Gb RAM / 2 * 1000Gb HDD / 100 MB / s
    4. Xeon 5620 x2 / 32GB RAM / 1000Gb HDD / 1 GB / s
    5. Xeon E3-1230 / 16Gb RAM / 1000Gb HDD / 1 GB / s

These servers fit right into my budget. Which is the best out of this 5? I just don't have the option to replace the HDDs with SSD though. But what do you guys think?

I'm buying this tonight. So I need a little help on deciding.

    Thanks for the reply Mouth.

I was wondering, would the 100MB speed be sufficient?

A friend of mine says that #4 is better because:
    6 core
    12 threads
    8 Core
    16 threads

It's the CPU speed that eliminates #4. In this case the 6 cores will out perform 8 cores.

Thanks Snog. What about the port speed? Is 100mb/s fine?

100mb is fine. I'd hazard a guess and say 90% of the servers connected to the internet are at that speed or slower.

    Thanks once again man.

Anyways, so there's a $25 difference between E5-1650 and E5620 x2, which one should I get if my main concern is pure pagespeed? My site is just going to run Xenforo. We currently have a few hundred users. I just have a lot of addons and future proofing the site.

Yes, more than adequate for all but the busiest forum sites with hundreds of users streaming/downloading large content directly from your server.

    Intel Xeon E5-1650 @ 3.20GHz is the BEAST :D

As was said, the 1650 is certainly a beast. Can't go wrong with that. As far as the port, I would definitely go with 1gbps if it's available. 100 mbps is fine for actual usage, but very easily overwhelmed by script kiddies and such trying to attack your server.

    Reason: RAID :D

Both of them (2620 and 1650) is great. I use 2620 as node server with SSD and really fast.
