Who was it who said that if you allowed people to sell crap/advertise/spam in here that it would take over...oh yeah, it was me... self fulfilling prophecy perhaps.

On a more positive note... off in the real world doing fun stuff like tiling and plumbing and gettting the occassional glimpse of alluring Butt Crack from my co-worker ...

Wish me luck kids, already had an "Uh Oh" water everywhere moment.... apparently you DO need to block the shower outlet when you block off the taps... contrary to the advice of the plumbing store guy.
 
Hours later, and still no flipppin tiles on the wall... I swear to deities of your choice, this is the most frustrating project I have ever worked on.

We couldn't get another blocking off pipe thing, as apparently it is a "specialist plumbing item" and of course the specialist plumbing stores are closed for the weekend... hmmm Sounds like utter crud to me, what does everyone use when they take their taps/faucets off to tile around them.... Chain Hardware Warehouses... staffed by people who know nothing about what they are sellling ime.
 
Depends a lot on the situation, I've turned off the water in the house to tile before. If you are getting constant drips then a paper towel in it does work.

Or whip out the MAP gas torch (the thing that gets hot, not a flashlight that makes light) and solder an end cap on to block it off - at least I am assuming you are referring to copper piping.

I am not sure we can get the tiling done that quickly, hence why we want to block the pipes off for a few days at most.

The things we got from the plumbing store are like plastic hose nozzles, with no hole, they just screw into the thread on the wall where the tap/faucet was.

We don't have a gas torch, and really only want soemthing that will work for a day or two, not a perm solution.

Jeff is off again to see what he can get... argh I hate the sitting around waiting.

This project is already at the end of the second week and we have only achieved the removal of the old tiles :| The whole thing should have been done by now!!! We have had Heat delays (when it hit over 40 for a full week) then delays due to some things needing to be done that just never seemed to get finished - and now this.

Argh! little bit frustrating!
 
There is a tremendous amount of talent on this forum, a picture may be a clearer way to communicate (just an idea).
 
There sure is some amazing talent and skills around here :)

We'll see if Jeff gets a solution when he gets back, if not I will post up some pics and see if any of you guys have a good idea :)

Sorry to be useless here but I thought it was hilarious
 
Not sure what is going on... combination of factors at work here, but the glue is not "going off" which means the tiles (which are quite large 250x400mm) are slipping down the wall, have to be held in place for an hour each one!!!

Time to get some expert advice I think.

Yes we are.

We are using a pre-mix white wall/floor tile adhesive, on a cement rendered wall...(it is suitable for rendered walls) and as I said it is just taking too long to go off so the tiles (which are big and relatively heavy) are slipping :(
 
I just spoke to my brother, who owned a tile store for years, and he believes the glue might be bad, or old.

Will take it back tomorrow and try another brand, not sure if we have that brand you posted here Ant, but I will look for it :)
