What part of NO PAYPAL do you not understand?

[quote="Adam Howard, post: 394283, member: 3816" Why don't people listen?

People like XenForo?

Sadly, yes.

At current moment .... This would be XenForo's only flaw as a company. I wouldn't care what other alternative they offered... anything .... So long as they offered at least 1 alternative that could accept payments on their website automatically.

I wish more developers here also accepted an alternative... again... any alternative.

I personally push Google Checkout, because anyone can send payment through it (even in countries paypal can not). But truth is... any alternative would be fine.

I currently only own 2 modifications. There are others I have been wanting to purchase, but again, the developer is stuck on paypal.

As a result... 1 of them I'm completely dependent on one of my users to supply the update. The other 1 actually does accept Google Checkout and so I was able to purchase directly.

Sucks needing to have someone else act as a proxy.

Why would somebody just blindly pay your through PayPal unless they knew you had a PayPal account?

I think I would have ditched the PayPal email address 5 years ago.

So many horror stories lately, I'm definitely going to look into an alternative.

I assume Google Checkout allows you to withdraw funds to your bank account? And when making a payment via Google Checkout, you only need a credit card (you don't need a google checkout account)?

The last time I knew, yes, you don't need a Google Checkout / Google Wallet account to purchase from someone selling, who uses Google.

Shame Dwolla is only accepting US based companies for now. How much of a transaction fee does Google charge?

I read horror stories about Paypal, but never had issues with them. I'd prefer having alternatives, though :)

My experience with Paypal has been very positive. Not sure what happened with that specific case which made you change your opinion. I guess no system is perfect.

Did you read beyond the thread title at all? It seems pretty clear to me what made him change his opinion..
Yes I did. And I would need far more details and hear the story from Paypal before I make a judgement. Especially having a 100% positive experience with them for many years and many sales and purchases.

I've been using paypal since y2k and never have had a problem with it.
Use money order if you don't like paypal, have the clients send you a check.
It's really not that difficult ;)

Back before paypal was popular, it was part of the x.com banking system. At that time, I was using kagi.com. I don't hear many people mention it today, not sure why, maybe the price is a little high for some people.

It seems to have a lot of things people are looking for.

From personal experience I've never had any issues, but i've never had large amounts of money flow through paypal.

However I seem to be hearing more and more stories like this. I've also heard multiple stories from event organizers whose ticket sales proceeds have been seized by paypal. The problem with conference/events is that they receive too much money in too short a period of time when tickets go on sale. All the money gets accepted - then frozen by paypal! Some really effed up stories.

Here's a site with a few of the stories on http://conferencesburnedbypaypal.tumblr.com/
