What is Cloudflare ? How does it help webmasters ?

"On the other hand, performance in Asia"

Performance in Asia should be pretty good because we now have three datacenters in the region. The issue is that some requests from Asia still get routed to the USA (not entirely our fault; how networks are built), and Australian visitors are most likely getting routed to the USA as well (we're trying to work with some of the network providers to make sure people hit the closest datacenter). Our network engineer is definitely working on these issues.

Cool on the Pro!

Rocket Loader: It will probably be some time before it comes completely out of beta. As I'm sure you're aware, there are tons of potential conflicts with javascript because of how sites are structured (Rocket Loader, in other words, might not create a bug on one site & will on the other). If you do end up turning Rocket Loader & something breaks, turn it off immediately & report Rocket Loader bug here.

Okay Rocket Loader doesn't work with Disqus commenting system for wordpress.

But at the moment I'm browsing my site from a relatively slow connection -- just for testing purposes -- and I really feel things are really zippy, even faster than Yahoo's site for instance.

I think the difference is significant if you're browsing from a slow connection, and less so on a fast connection.

I need to also mention that I've moved to PRO. (y)

"I need to also mention that I've moved to PRO"

You can send payments to my personal PayPal account (just kidding).

"and I really feel things are really zippy, even faster than Yahoo's site for instance."
That's what we do (make sites faster).

You reported the Rocket Loader bug with the link I provided, correct?

I use CF on my site to speed it up. It seems to have helped (I am a pro member). I disable to security because it blocks 15% of all my traffic. I like the analytics too!

Okay, more on CloudFlare.
I really don't know what happened, but the same trend continues for the past few days after I've installed CF.

Bounce rate was ~60% previously (ouch!) but now it has dropped down consistently to below 15%. (y)
Pageviews also has been up 190% and stays there consistently -- while visitor levels remain the same. Meaning more page/visitors. (y)

If this trend continues for a month I'll be a very happy man. :)

Oh, and that was from Google Analytics. The numbers are even higher from CF's analytics -- :D

Question, do you put affiliate links on pages to add to your revenue?

The only feature that we have that would do this is optional & has to be turned on (Outbound Links). We don't insert affiliate links at all w/o the feature being turned on.

We make money off of a freemium model, which means we will have paid features and free ones.

i have a cloudflare pro account and just want to say that i love it, try it out for free and buy pro :) . page is faster and i like the dashboard.

" try it out for free and buy pro"

That's the best way to do it:)

If people are wondering what the difference is between Pro and free, the key benefits are:
  • Faster subsequent page loads
  • Advanced security with Web Application Firewall (WAF) including posted content analysis for SQL injection and XSS
  • Support for SSL
  • Stats & Reports that are updated every 15 minutes

It's free, you get your site faster, and you get less spammers: where the deal with the devil? :D
I understood that you have to change the dns, and that's all, so all off you traffic is routed to the "filters" of cloudflare, but i can't understand why it is free...
probably as simple as letting people try it for free which may get a lot more people that have no way of trying a product without giving up their cc numbers before deciding to buy, if that is the case it just means that the paid services offset that cost and that the company is confident about their turnaround on free users to premium users. Since the nature of the service is an online service it can be offered that way...just like skype..you can use it for free but if you want more features you have to pay. The paid services offset the overhead of the free service. This is just how I interpret it.

EDIT: Wow ok I guess I didn't respond to the last page of the post :-)

"just like skype..you can use it for free but if you want more features you have to pay."

A pretty good way of looking at it (I actually pay for my Skype features). We will also be able to monetize based on account types (Enterprise, when live in the future) down the road because their feature requirements will be way different than regular site owners. Our plans are to monetize off of features needed & not traffic levels....

Damon is there anyone working at CloudFlare that does not live in California? Like living in a different state but still supporting CloudFlare customers? Just wondering as I am thinking of applying for a job, but I am hesitating a bit. Guess it can't hurt to try, right? ;)
