what happens when I "follow" somebody on the forums ?

when I "follow" a person on XF, what is this doing?

Is it only that I see the activities of the members I follow in my newsfeed or do I also receive e-mails on activities of people I follow?

It just filters their activities into your news feed: http://xenforo.com/community/account/news-feed

It's more or less a personalised version of the global news feed: http://xenforo.com/community/recent-activity/

is this "Newsfeed" of the people I follow somehow limited in terms of timeframe?
So seeing the activities only of the last 3 days or something? Or can I see literally ALL activities, independent of timeframe ?

It stores all content from the last 7 days (rolling).

how you can prevent that people are following you and you can delte a specific person of following you.

You can't prevent someone from following you or remove someone who is following you.

You can however set your privacy to People you follow only.
