XF 1.5 Watched Option

I just need a bit of clarity on the forum watched option? When setting it up you have the following options available.



The first one new threads I would assume that only new threads created in that forum you would get an alert. The second one New Message is the one I need clarity on. I assume this would be an alert on both new threads and replies to threads in that area.
