XF 1.1 Videos

    Good morning to you all.

    I am wondering if all video uploads have to be done via a provider like You Tube, or if using the "Upload a File" button will work?

    Only the providers supported, such as YouTube.

    You'd need a resource for additional video sources.

    You could use the BBCODE addon, and then have a hostedvideo bbcode that embeds a JPlayer or other free video player onto the page, and having a bbcode option being the path...

    When using YouTube et al, you are not hosting the video on your server, just embedding it on the forum.

    I would advise against locally hosting video content for various reasons.

    I assume a primary reason is the amount of space it takes up.

    That and possibilities of DMCA (more so than just images), bandwidth, software to convert and stream it, etc.
