XF 1.2 vB4.x PMs -> Conversations conversion

I just transitioned my vB4.x over to XF and the PMs came through all individually. I kind of hoped that they would be all joined together into a conversation thread like XF has inherent. Is it possible to run a script of some kind to make this happen or do I have to just be happy with XF conversations from this point forward?

Between this post and the last one, I'm thinking your import did not take for whatever reason the first time. That or you're trying to import only part of something and not the whole thing (which can not be done).

You best bet would be to import again (start over).

my import was successful. The forum was fully transitioned with zero errors once I correctly exported and imported the database in the right format - went like clockwork.

Its intended that they come through individually. I'm not sure I've seen a script that converts them to conversations.

^^this. My original question was whether or not the PMs in VB format (which are individual, in an inbox and a sent folder, and only somewhat interconnected in a really unmanageable way) were supposed to be converted over in such a fashion that they would become "pulled together" like a zipper and merged into a single conversation between the 2 people involved. According to Jeremy, the import engine does not do this, so case closed, unless you can give me an example of someone who imported a vB4.x forum and their PMs were indeed merged and turned into conversations in XF format.

XF doesn't have "sent" and "inbox" folders for conversations. They are instead like threads only viewable by those in the conversation. So I can understand how they would not be imported and 'converted'.

OK. I did not understand you the first time. Sorry. (I do now)

Due to the structure of the source data, it's generally not possible to bring them over in conversations. I don't recall if there's linking of the data in a hierarchy, but there are also significant problems posed with the state of each message being variable, party changes with replies/forwarding, subject changes, etc.
