Users asked to login when downloading attachment

Hello,

Many of my users have been reporting a problem,When they try to download an attachment file they must be logged in in forum settings , However even though they are logged in already they are asked to login again and once they enter info to login they are asked to login again .

The only was to fix the problem right now seems to be changing browsers for them , I was wondering if this is a common issue or if there is a known fix .

I haven't seen this issue, I wonder if this is a www vs non www link issue

If you are on www and point the attachement to non www, the cookie might not be set up for both domains (thus it asks you to log in)

What is the full url of the attachment link
and what is the full url of the site when this happens (you can use http://test.com/bla and https://www.test.com/bla as examples if you want).

Other situations could be caching related, if you have anything like that configured -- particularly with CDN-style caching.

That would make more sense, hence in a new browser there should be no caching issue seen (www issues I would expect to see across all browsers)

I don't have anything configured other than the xenforo default installation , The problem seems to be fixed if the user clean their cookies though .

One user said "When i click on the link it signs me out and wont let me sign back in, so i can't download." , Can someone help me out with this problem ? .

Hello ,

I posted a thread about this a while back but now i have a bit more details .

Anyway the problem is that when people go to download a zip attachment they are asked to log in, Once they log in they are asked to log in once again when they try to download it and that just keeps happening ,Doesn't happen to all users but i get well over 20 emails a day of people having this issue .

The problem occur if the people access the thread which has attachment with a direct link
http://mrantifun.net/index.php?threads/zheros-trainer.7197/

However if the same person access the same thread however he does that from the website search engine results or directly click on the thread the problem is solved

I was wondering if anyone have any idea of what might be causing this issue , Because it really is a weird one .
