User upgrades. Only possible at the end?

Since I've many users with user upgrades it comes to my attention one user today that has their subscription end th 24th of march. He want to upgrade today but he cannot do it since the Buy button is not available until the end of the subscription.

Is it possible for a user to upgrade also if his subscription is not expired?

No.

The option to upgrade won't be available until the current upgrade has expired.

Ok thanks! But when a user upgrade expires, in which usergroup the user is put?

They are just removed from the upgrade group.

Presumably all your members are in the registered group as their primary?
If not, they should be as that is how the system has been designed.

Just as a sidenote, does the upgrade system allow paypal subscriptions? If so will paypal automatically notify XF of the successful payment and keep the upgrade meaning no intervention at all from me?

Yes it does support recurring payments. The option is set for each subscription:

Admin CP -> Users -> List User Upgrades -> Create New User Upgrade

If you set a recurring upgrade then a PayPal payment profile is created.

You will receive 2 emails for any members purchasing recurring upgrades.
One for the payment, one for the payment profile.
