As designed User still being shown after leaving conversation

If a user leaves a conversation (either with or without ignoring future messages), the user is still being shown as a recipient for other participants in the same conversation.

This seems confusing, as the users user(s) could write replies without ever knowing that the user who left might never see them.

You've posted this as an XF 2.1 bug in the 1.x section.

This is as designed and has always been like this. I believe it's to show who has participated in a conversation, not who is still active in a conversation. It also allows someone to leave the conversation without others knowing about (which may be the intention) it e.g. when they leave and choose to ignore replies. Similarly someone can leave (helping to tidy up their inbox) but can return if there are further replies.

There's a suggestion here about changing the behaviour.

Participants leaving a conversation & removing them from one

When a participant leaves a conversation, his user name still appears to the other participants in the list. Is this a bug or is it as designed? I think the latter but wanted to be sure. The suggestion is, I have conversations where I need to remove certain users I included when starting it...
