How do I prevent email from being sent?
Edit the library/config.php file and add the following:

$config['enableMail'] = false;

Thanks!!! I sent an email to all my users and one bad email address caused 400 of the same email to go to every user...what's up with that?

Was it a mailing list perhaps? Otherwise there shouldn't be any duplication unless something is funny about your mail server.

Jake, I just sent an email to my users...it was not a list, per se...I used the forum Email Users...I started getting hundreds of emails letting me know there was a bad email address, but my users just kept getting the same email over and over...looks like that one bad email address caused some kind of loop...I deleted the user and all the emails stopped...but my users are not exactly thrilled

Ok, so I am really hearing it from my users and need to figure out what went wrong. At this point, I cannot use the forum to email all my users...I can email a few but that is it. I have lost members over this debacle!!!

I suggest you consult with your mail host to examine the logs and see what's going on.

Or try a different mail server. Here is a guide for using Google as your SMTP server:
