XF 2.0 Upgrade Problem

Sorry if this has been asked before, trust me I've been searching this website, and google all morning looking for a fix. I have even gotten in touch with my webhost who says they are taking a look at the issue, but it's been a few hours and still not resolved.

The issue:
So I want to upgrade my XF from 2.0 to 2.1. I have downloaded the upgrade zip folder, uploaded those files via FTP, checked file permissions, yet when I access the /install/ directory from my chrome browser, I get a 500 internal error.

Here is the error from my cPanel:
Tue Jun 18 14:04:12.101965 2019] [:error] [pid 22995:tid 140431016273664] [client 74.178.96.192:61392] SoftException in Application.cpp:326: File "/.../.../.../install/index.php" is writeable by group

Any ideas?

That could be related to SuPHP.

You may need to adjust the permissions to 0644/0755 for files/directories.

I'll give it a shot. would this be for all directories?

That's what they are all set to except the install, data, and internal data which I manually changed to 0777 in hopes that would work.
