XF 1.0 Upgrade from vBulletin 3.8.7

Hi

I have a forum:-

www.electricforum.com/cars

which currently runs on vBulletin 3.8.7. I have some questions:-

Is it easy to upgrade to Xenforo?
How long does it take?
What is the cost?
Would I be able to retain the current site design?
Is Xenforo mobile compatible?

Regards,

Mark

There is a built in importer for VB 3.8 which is fairly straightforward to use.

The time taken depends on the size of the forum and the server spec/config.

It costs nothing if you do it yourself - third parties would likely charge.

You will need to recreate the design in XF - it can't be transferred.

Yes, XF is fully responsive.

See this general guide for importing: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/importing-guidelines.25325/

Hi Brogan

How much do you think it would cost to re-do the design so it was mobile compatible?

The forum currently has:-

Threads: 5,503, Posts: 24,547, Members: 7,891

So in theory I could buy the Xenforo package and then import my vBulletin forum and apart from the design all the links, urls, sub-forums, etc would all remain as they are?

Regards,

Mark

I have no idea on design costs - you would need to contact designers for quotes.

That size forum wouldn't take long to import.

So in theory I could buy the Xenforo package
I'm not sure what you mean by this - you already have an XF license.
You just need to import your VB forum into your XF forum, using the built in importer.

Yes, all members, forums, threads, etc. would be preserved.

Brogan - I have 2 other licenses on other forums I own but not on this one.

It asked me for a version of Xenforo when I posted the thread so I just added the first one.

Would urls be preserved as they show on the current VB forum? This is vital for backlinks etc.

Mark
