XF 1.5 Upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0 first ... or just go straight to 2.1 when it is released?

We never upgraded to XF2.0 as it seemed to be a re-write/new framework that didn't bring much new stuff to the party for what would have been a lot of work to upgrade.

With XF2.1 on the horizon (and lots of interesting new features) it makes the prospect of upgrading seem more attractive.

Would we be better off upgrading to 2.0 first and ironing out any issues, before upgrading to 2.1 ... or just going straight from 1.5 to 2.1 ?

You don't want to upgrade to 2.1 until its actually a stable release. They don't recommend running it in production on live sites. Just upgrade to 2.0 now and wait for 2.1 in a matter of a month or so.

We released Release Candidate 2 today. The only times we have released three release candidates was XF 1.0.0 and XF 2.0.0. Generally it's two. Obviously it could always be more, but however you cut it, there really isn't long to wait.

Just go straight to XF 2.1 when it is released. If you have a test copy of your 1.5 forum, nothing to stop you from trying it out now. It's a significant upgrade so doing a test run is always recommended anyway.

Thanks @Chris D.

We have a series of add-ons that we rely on so we'll have to wait for those to be upgraded, but hopefully that won't be too long.

We'll do some test upgrades of one of our smaller forums to get some idea of what is different in 2.1 (presumably a LOT)? :)
