Add-on Unmaintained Waindigo add-ons

Then don't use it. From the looks of it, it only sends back a list of Jon's addons. Is that correct @Jon W ?

No, it sends back ALL your add-ons with all data (version, etc) and your member count to Waindigo regularily.

@Jon W :
You should really take more time to think through your new license model. I doubt many people will be able to pay a minimum of 90 GBP (which is 140 USD!) to get access to your add-ons. This won't help you to get paid.

Also, forcing your users to install an add-on which is extensively data sniffing may not be a good idea in times when users are very sensible about such callbacks after the ******* events.

This is not true. Please remove this post.

Then now is the time to be completely clear on what IS being sent back.
No, today is Sunday. Please allow me to enjoy my day off with friends, family and God. I will request for this thread to be closed. All the correct information is readily available on the Install and Upgrade description.

I think he's referring to your claims about the callbacks

Cannot be, because this is stated in his description of his Install & Upgrade add-on
In order to provide certain features of this add-on, the following information will be periodically sent to the Waindigo servers: a list of your add-ons, options relating directly to this add-on (does NOT include FTP details and stored credentials), current XenForo version, current language, debug mode flag, member count and board URL.

I corrected my post above to remove the threads and post count. I could add the other transmitted informations, but didn't.

It doesn't say anything about message/thread count. Or am I missing something?

Correct, i didn't remember this correctly. I removed it from my first post. Sorry.

It instead transfers the current XenForo version, current language, debug mode flag and the board URL with the member count and all add-on informations (even from non Waindigo add-ons).

Most of that is necessary to enforce his new license model. Why he needs to transfer all add-ons with their information, is unclear. Maybe to provide update information from his server?

Besides the unmaintained prefix it would be beneficial to put a red warning image or just red text in the description of problematic addons to warn people of the problems with the addon. This way people know what they are getting into right from the start. i.e.
WARNING: THIS ADDON CAUSES PERFORMANCE ISSUES. DO NOT USE ON MEDIUM TO LARGE SITES.

WARNING: THIS ADDON HAS UNRESOLVED BUGS AND IS PROVIDED AS IS. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Such warnings are needed IMHO for addons which have significant issues in terms of quality or performance.
@Jon W would you consider something along those lines?
(please don't feel any obligation to answer on Sunday. There's no urgency)

@Jon W Just curious as to why you would need to know my add-ons that are not related to any of yours I may have installed and also why you would need to know my member count, language or debug mode flag?
I understand you would need to know the URL and what add-ons of yours are install for licensing purposes but the rest seems to me to be data mining.
