I'm using XenForo 2.3.13 with Brevo.com SMTP to send emails for things like registration verification, new post/pm notifications, etc. The emails seem to be going out fine and they are being delivered (though somewhat often to junk mail folders). I was in my Brevo account and saw a warning about my senders not being compliant and to check DKIM and DMARC status. I don't know what those are so I did some searching and asked AI and got that error fixed. So now I'm told SPF, DKIM and DMARC are all passing... but there's also a problem with the original email header in gmail.
They have tow return-path headers:
The first one is added by Brevo and I've learned that is normal because they handle bounced emails. The second one seems to be coming from XenForo.
I did have a problem where I had an incorrect domain on email address set under AdminCP > Options > Email options > Bounced email address. I fixed that by leaving the field blank but now XenForo uses my default email address for the second return-path.
I was told to disable the automated bounce email handler and it was disabled.
Is there any way to keep XenForo from adding the extra return-path header? My searches and wasted time with various AI models haven't turned up a solution.
