Trophies, User Title & User Promotion

It seems redundant to have this. You promote an user when he a criteria is met (say 100 messages), at the same time he earns Trophies by doing actions in the forum which gives him user titles. Isnt both the same or at least can be used for the same goal?

Any ideas how would you use both differently? I am extremely interested in this kind of features because it promote users to be more active in the forum.

Is it possible to edit manually the amount of guest you have in your forum? (For instance if you have 20 guest, double it and display 40) It incentivate people to join the forum tho when they see a lot of users online or at least connected.

Also is there available an addon to show members actived in the last 24 hours or it can be done with default xenforo?

Trophies are just little "rewards" for achieving something based on criteria. The User Title Ladder can be progressed up via increasing Trophy points or alternatively messages or likes. It's up to you which you use and how much of any you need to move from one user title to another. Trophies can also be disabled if you don't want to use them.

Criteria are also used for user group promotions which are quite different and generally used to give users increasing permissions and/or access to certain forums.

No, you can't edit manually the number of guests. Probably best not to lie to users anyway as you might lose them.

Yes there are add-ons to show users in the last 24 hours.
