Then spam would only be reported ONCE, not multiple reports for the same spam threads reported.

Another solution is to have one moderation log for one post and reports arranged in timely order.

That's an excellent idea... no reduction of potentially useful information, no users feeling like they can't report an item, no build up of logs (1 moderation item with thousands of reports can be approved / deleted in a single click). IMO, this should be core, not a plug-in

The flood check still needs to be there though, since malicious users like to DOS attack by sending lots of queries / large amounts of data continuously, flood checks do limit this type of attack.. A user could also plug-up the moderation queue with a script reporting every single post on the board (imagine having to go though several million moderation logs), flood checks also limit this

Yes. I'd rather us "suffer" with the very traumatic spam than let new, genuine, prospective customers suffer not being able to ask the questions they need to make their buying decision.

They could be still able to ask their questions and wait for an answer.
They could not get an answer until a mod enabled their post? Horrible!

Sometimes purchasing can be a snap decision. Some people don't wanna have to wait to see there real post get through, just to make 100% certain they are happy with their decision. If I have it narrowed to 2, come here at last moment to ask a question, register, post... and wait, and wait, and wait... if no mods are on especially.... I would go to the competitor and sign up, if answered, I likely would buy there.

I ignore spam posts now, not even worth my time reporting it.

I stopped hitting report too. I'm trying to make the best of it now.
