It's very useful to be able to see what your users are searching for. They have been searching for topics that the site does not have yet. No content on the topics exist yet or there is content but its not coming up in search due to different wording. It means you are loosing users because they cannot find what they are looking for and go somewhere else. If you are aware of it then you can address it.
I have been using this feature on many platforms over the decades. Even WordPress & WooCommere has this under Analytics. Pretty much any e-commerce platform has it. I would like to see it implemented in XenForo as well.
ElasticSearch offers a Search Analytics feature set with Aggregations that could be used for this purpose.
It would allow the admin to browse the most popular search queries in the last X days/months. Not just what users are searching for, but also if they found results or not. Its the search queries without result that matter the most, because that's where there is unmet demand.
It would also be useful to expose this data to active members of the community. For example in a widget. Top Search Queries.
I don't know how often members have told me that everything has already been posted about and they have no clue what to post. Such widget would be most useful for members to find topics to post about. Its also very useful to find new trends.
Sure, Google analytics can be used for this as well, but data from the XF search engine is much more relevant.
