RM 1.1 Top resources defined how?

    Just looked at the resource section at a xenforo site. Here 1. top resource has more votes (but less average rating) than 2. top resource which has higher average rating than 1. top resource. 1. has far more downloads than 2.

    Perhaps it is because xenforo does not take into account "half stars" when sorting top resources?

    Also, if you look here http://xenforo.com/community/resources/?order=rating_weighted, "nodes as tabs" has higher average rating than "widget framework", but widget framework still #1.

    IIRC, it's using a Bayesian average: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayesian_average Effectively, a confidence value is included in the sorting, so when there's a small variation between ratings, a higher number of votes will often be higher.
