    1. Without a doubt - Superbad.
    2. Anchorman.
    3. I'm going to 'cheat' here and say it would be a toss up between Life of Brian, The 40 year old virgin, Step Brothers, Napoleon Dynamite, The Wedding Crashers & Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

    1. Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Beyond simply best, more that just classic. It is to film what Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew is to literature; both are classic comedies that transcend the genre.
2.Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - a global thermo-nuclear war comedy during the height of the Cold War. What could be better? "Mein F├╝hrer! I can walk!"
    3. Animal House - Anyone who disagrees that this belongs in the top three (or that the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor) will be placed on double secret probation.

There are so many kinds of comedy, and making a general list is not easy. This is an old personal list, that probably needs updating:

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
    Hot Fuzz
    The Ladykillers (1955)
    Being John Malkovich
    Thank You for Smoking
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan
The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!
    The Big Lebowski
    Life of Brian
    Groundhog Day
    American Pie
    Hot Shots!
