Third Party Facebook Forums App

Luckily all you need is the .id at the end of a title for XenForo, right?

From what I can see of this thread URL stucture used below. Because it does not include the name of a forum board it's posted on, you should be able to move it around from forum to forum and the url in Google will still reach the same thread. Would have been a different case had the URL included the forum board name "off-topic" in the stucture of it, but it doesn't. However, if you renamed the title of the thread it would break, seeing as uses thread title keywords in the URL. But then I don't know if XenForo redirects to the same thread still using a 301.

AnthonyCea - Not all SEO Friendly URL's break indexed in Google, that's a prime example above of how and why some don't. MyBB is the same in how my forum creates them, like this one below shows with no "keywords" used at all in it. Which means you can rename the thread title itself and move it to another forum also. And the link indexed in Google will still lead right too it.

talking about FB-Apps:

not sure if my following questions makes any sense, but:

"how do I make my XF-Forum into a Facebook-App ?"

That would be awesome. People could choose to use your native xF forum from within your site's Facebook page. FBML? Is it possible, I don't know.

Works fine with new title and old title displayed in Google. Search it for this (exactly to find the old name) top of the list.

Code:
facebook-forums-have-been-launched

Oh great. Now when I log in on facebookforums.net I get automatically redirected to apps.facebook.com and it asks me to publish an announcement about Facebookforums to my newsfeed.

Anyway, the forum points system is interesting. Admins can buy points through amazonpayments, paypal, etc. With these points the admin can get rid of ads, move the forum up in the main index, place an ad on facebook, etc.
The admin can also earn points in many ways: http://apps.facebook.com/facebook_forums/admin/points.php

I like the drag and drop forum order function for admins.

Not sure I get you, are you saying when you login to FB you being asked to help promote the forums?

Hmm, so they are offering a way of removing the ads then.

Google has not had a chance to reindex the new title yet ~~ !!!

Yeah, but that wasn't your point before. You was talking about links indexed in Google breaking through over moderation moving them around the forums, renaming them e.t.c. Point is that's not the case, who really cares if it's not changed the thread title yet, what matters is that the link is not broken giving a 404. Waiting for the title to be updated and changed later is neither here nor there as long as the actual link still works leading too the correct thread.

When I access Facebookforums, its proposing that I post a canned text to my facebook newsfeed. If I click on 'OK' then its posted to my newsfeed.

Right, looks like they are pushing hard to try and promote it all further via FB users RSS feeds.
The facebook newsfeed is the same as the activity stream. So if its posted there, then its promoted to all my friends.

Honestly, this is getting way more attention than it deserves. It's a mediocre third party app, it poses no threat whatsoever to established forum communities. I doubt most of us would ever have heard about it were it not for this thread.
I really hope you are right. But established forums can only wish to have the integration and therefore the exposure that a facebook app has. Once a user has signed on to facebookforums, the user will be logged in, until the app is removed from the facebook account. And there is a link to facebookforums directly from the users facebook profile.

I hope that the low quality of the app will put people off or that it will turn into a spam haven. But I expect it will become more popular than that.

I see that you have to pay to get listed on the index. There are many more forums, but they are not listed on the index.

OK, the number remains the same, but let's say you changed the title to:

Facebook will take over the web with new forums.14926

Do you think that might effect or possibly effect this threads placement in search query results in any way ??

I guess it could if Google is putting some weight in thread titles with searches carries out, but these these they say (have no idea myself if it's true)? That Google does not put that much importance on the thread title anymore after spammers started using it to their own advantage to get higher rankings. They say now Google looks more at the actual content instead as being the inportant factor.

Do you have a 2 line thread, or a 400 line detailed article about the same subject e.t.c. That would make more sense to me when it comes to ranking a page. But of course threads get replies made, which in turn builds the content up further from that initial first 2 liner.

So could end-up having more content down the line and start getting ranked higher later. Who knows?

No. The software properly 301 redirects to the new URL, so Google will update accordingly. This is basic SEO.

I'm not going to argue with you guys back and fourth on this, like I said, I have seen threads dumped from the index when there is no redirect when threads are merged, split, changed and altered, I'm sure with the minor changes that were made in this one it will not have a dramatic effect.

But when you change titles it will effect search queries in many cases.

It would not be the first time content was dropped out of Google, not saying this is going to happen here !
