Here is the real thing I got for my grandparents. On/Off button only turns on/off the TV and the channel button flips the channels on the cable box only. If you slide the lid down, you can key in channels on the cable box.

Reminds me of a prank a radio station played in the 70's when I was a kid. They said at 9:00am the phone company was going to clean the lines and you need to take your phone off the hook and wrap a plastic bag around it to collect the dirt that blew out.

So many people did this that the phone exchange was overloaded and went down for almost an hour.
