Under certain circumstances it's possible, that the folders avatars or attachments do not exist in the data folder of a XF installation. The importer will then fail to run with the error message "The directory data does not contain the expected contents" and you must create those folders manually, before you can proceed.

IMHO both folders should be created, when completing the installation of XenForo.

Thank you for reporting this issue. This is the same problem as an earlier report that is already confirmed: the importer requires both subfolders to exist in the source data directory, but they are only created once an avatar or attachment is stored. Further progress will be tracked there.
