XF 2.1 Text Editor bug when entering ")*("

Hi,

It seems that the text editor is not working correctly and that the "*" characters is sometimes deleted after having clicked on "Post thread" button.
I enter this text in the editor :

It displays this :

The character "*" has been deleted twice which is strange :-(

I have tested on my XenForo forum and here, the result is the same.

Could you please explain?

That`s a very strange bug because it prevents all smilies with a * at the beginning to appear.

You could try this addon https://xenforo.com/community/threads/banxix-disable-markdown.159011/ and see if this fixes it

I do not understand why I should install an add-on to correct that...
It is a bug.
My forum is about coding and this character is used very often this way in development...

The markdown-support as described in the post above is active by default and can not be switched off. That's why you need that addon

According the the addon-author, this is just a two-liner, and it is free.

Try it if it solves your problems currently. Then file a "bug" / suggestion that XF-developer think of some mechanism to selectively disable markdown for usecases like yours.

I may be mistaken but the next version of XenForo 2.1.1 will have an option to disable Markdown.

Thanks, didn't know that. From a bug-description it looked like it only ignores markdowns that are smilies.
