[Suggestion] Forum Icons

i would suggest you to put this feature by default (like the phpBB), so the customers can put a specific icon per single forum (i mean not the status icon like vB) ... exactly like i did on my board (http://www.fniv.it/board/supported-games/) with an add-on ...

I like this idea, but only if the original status icons that are currently in place are removed and something else in their place.

My suggestion would be this. Instead of status icons on the forum home, you could have a Forum Icon - which is an illustration that represents the forum, and is uploadable via admin (if you don't upload one, a default one takes its place). And if new posts are within, a dynamic image could be placed over the top of it (kind of like what is being done with the large avatar/small avatar to show if you've posted within a topic) to show that there are unread posts since your last visit. A simple "New" or "unread" icon would suffice.

Does that make sense to anyone else other than me?

No, after finishing forums, they should write a suggestion management system, complete with up/down voting on suggestions, giving suggestions a rating on "difficulty to implement", marking the "likelyhood of implementation", wiki editing of the actual solution/suggestion so all the related ideas and improvements are not lost in an enormous thread etc.

Now, that's an idea. (they'd better make millions soon and employ new staff...)

You could easily do this with the template system.

dude, it's not a bloatfest, just compare XF (or vB) with phpBB ... this one have integrated this feature ... (and like you can see - onto vb.org - there are many requests for a product which makes this - and finally dark wizard has done it.)

Just my own personal opinion Certainly we will wait to see what the developers have to say.

I'd REALLY REALLY like this pic per forum and an avaar sioze pic per category/ container too.

But I don't see how to do it without the script doing it. A present I replace the forum icon with my own but that just puts my own single icon on ALL forums.
This is a very different thing to allocate an individual icon for a single forum.

Why would you not just use the Status icons? If you don't want to be bothered making a unique one for each condition (new, no new, new locked, no new locked) just use the same image for each?

I was thinking of making a small mod to replace the statusicon with a chosen image, and either grayscaling or using opacity to differentiate them.

if you check the add-on which i've linked from vb.org, you can see which this add-on handles the two things together ... so what i'm asking for: is the possibility to change the status icon and put a new image nearly the forum title ... exactly like dark wizard did with his hack ...

Depends if you want a set of icons to show status - in your own syle

OR you want an icon to individualise a forum. This second one is what interests me.

Right now, you can use a html-code (like <img>) in description,
but i'd like to add an unique image for each forum, visible in main-page.
