As the admin of forums about scooters, hamsters and leprechauns, I feel you are categorizing me and my people, and I take great offense at your blanket damnation, sir!My board isn't about cars, bunnies or rainbows.
Actually I believe it's around 25.And did you know there are 22 different distinct species of hamster?
Red Herring fallacy. Perhaps we should create a new fallacy in honor of your site. How about the Irish Zhu Zhu?As the admin of forums about scooters, hamsters and leprechauns, I feel you are categorizing me and my people, and I take great offense at your blanket damnation, sir!
Your little debate forum becomes heated, does it? Ha, you wouldn't last a minute in one of our leprechaun sighting threads. And did you know there are 22 different distinct species of hamster? No, of course you didn't. How dare you! How dare you indeed.
We like to be positive. Its totally one sided atm, you can like a post, but not dislike it. Great in utopia I guess.

amen sista!Well said peggy couldn't have said it better myself.Positivity breeds efficiency and stamps out procrastination.
Ho ho ho - I'll bet that kind of thing has them rolling on the floor at your Algonquin Round Table fantasy conventions. Right after a rousing Quidditch match and movie screenings where you all shout the continuity errors at the screen.Red Herring fallacy. Perhaps we should create a new fallacy in honor of your site. How about the Irish Zhu Zhu?

If I posted I got an F on my exam, and someone liked the post, my first reaction of what was meant would be 'I understand, I get them too, sorry you are having a rough day'.If I post "I got an F on my exam", you can only like that. That's nothing positive. I think you guys fail to see that dislike can be used as something positive.
If people would start liking that post I'd feel like they're mocking me. If they instead could dislike it, I'd feel like they actually care.

And you are in no way obligated to like anything you do or do not like, and you are perfectly capable of making your dislike known through a post, which is generally greatly more efficient then just clicking a button and being done with the whole thing. The world is not full of 'like'. Reality is a mix of both.
If people can't handle 'dislikes', let them disable it, but reality is hardly only about 'like'.

If someone agrees with a post, but has no input, it allows them a way to say that.Your idea is flawed. That same thing can be applied to the "like". You are perfectly capable of making your "like" known through a post, which is generally greatly more efficient than(notice what I did there?) just clicking a button and being done with the whole thing.
And on the other hand, if I disliked a post like that, I'd feel like I was reprimanding the person for getting the F. So I wouldn't use either like or dislike. If I post "I got an F on my exam", you can only like that. That's nothing positive. If someone agrees with a post, but has no input, it allows them a way to say that.
However, if someone disagrees with the post, chances are almost always going to be that they'll respond and post their disagreement. Your post being a perfect example of this.
And on the other hand, if I disliked a post like that, I'd feel like I was reprimanding the person for getting the F. So I wouldn't use either like or dislike.
