Stopping Female Breast Ads On My Site

It's flashy and grabs attention. I can understand marketing sex, I mean, it works. And since men were the dominant gamers it made sense. But it's time they caught up with today. More and more women are playing games and tipping the scales especially when it comes to life simulation and rpg type games. Imagine going to a site with those ads on it while you were at work. Makes you somehow feel dirty and like you need to hide your screen.

now i know about your search history. you only searched for (.)(.) ! i don't think santa would give you presents this year you've been a very bad boy this year.

I blocked them in ad sense many times over the last few months. They just never seem to leave :(. Im really sad for kids who might click them and be hooked on porn.

I was just on a site that had a side bar add for them. It was a woman walking in a latex suit. If that is what your talking about, that will not get anyone hooked on porn. They can see a lot more on the beach and almost as much at the mall. I can see people not wanting the add on certain sites but I don't feel it will harm kids.

Just to clarify, I am a Christian and have never once in my life actually looked at porn or even searched it on the web so that is not the issue.

You don't know what you are missing!

Being Christian has little to do with it since Christians look at much more porn than those of lesser faith.
I cut out all body image weight loss and video game ads on my site just because I don't think they apply as much to my audience. No get rich quick ads either.....

Kudos to you for self discipline. You can use that same quality for much success in this world......

Some porn facts:
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/Business/story?id=6977202

"States where a majority of residents agreed with the statement "I have old-fashioned values about family and marriage," bought 3.6 more subscriptions per thousand people than states where a majority disagreed. A similar difference emerged for the statement "AIDS might be God's punishment for immoral sexual behaviour."

I do know what I am missing since I was going down the immoral path (although not porn) before I came to Christ. I don't miss it. Trust me.

Anyway, I just think there should be some standards for kid's sakes.

One issue is that sort of thing lumps a huge religion in one pot. I figure among the people I go to church with maybe 1/10 watch porn. That's very low for a global average. I know them well too since I organize the service.

Problem is, you don't know. Really.

I just finished a book called "Republican Gomorrah", which details all of the stuff from the "real" Christian right - that being Dobson, focus on the family and all the other power brokers. While most of us know about the Swaggarts, the Haggards, the Bakers and dozens of others - this book goes into detail on how far inside the movement this stuff goes. And, yes, all of these same folks crusade against it!

I'm certain there are some people somewhere who are not swayed by pleasure. But it is so baked into our DNA and brains that the avoidance of it causes more problems than it solves.

Not wanting to argue - just interesting facts since I read the book this week. The author proposes, and I agree, that repression of our desires often causes more problems than it solves....

But, I'm a liberal...which means if it works well for you, that's great! My own belief is closer to the Buddhists who say "the middle way" and "moderation in all things". So far (and I've made it to 60), it's working for me to whatever degree!

Back to the OP - it's the typical dilemma - greed against morality. If ads are being served that you don't like, turn them off. Even if it costs you $$$. I have turned down many private clients for my web site just because their products were of poor quality or efficiency or I didn't like the way they marketed (they fooled people, etc.)...

If your users are of the same mindset, they'd gladly fork over some money to help you make it up...

One way to make up revenue is to ask your users to do their Amazon shopping based on links on your web site. If they are going to buy things, why not have you get the commission (no skin off their backs!).

I'm not going to turn all ads off because some are bad. There are a couple now that because they seem to use third party ad providers through google's system it's been a hard fight to turn them off.

On your point concerning Christians, I should mention that about 1/10 of the people that attend are from the USA. The church in the USA is quite a bit different than churches globally.

Try contacting Google? I've had issues with Google and private ad-networks in the past. Often times there's a hijack going on at that particular vendor which pushes the new fake ad to the intermediary.
