Speed XF vs VB 3.8

I know many will throw stones, saying he would not return ever for vbulletin and much less to version 3.8, but maybe it's time to think about that possibility.

Increasingly the community feel of the XF more abandoned, developers increasingly going away and the lack of plugins is very worrying .. every day think over the possibility of downgrade ..

I would opnion of you, you better have other opinions before taking any decision

Thank you all.

If I was going to return to vBulletin it would ONLY be vB 3.8 because compared to what was before and after it it's awesome.

But what's the point in downgrading to a version that isn't actively supported or developed... when your main concern is you're currently using a software that isn't actively developed? That logic doesn't make sense.

And I have a serious issue with this comment:
lack of plugins is very worrying

I don't see a lack of plugins. If there are any plugins you're missing, you should post requests.

Why would you go from one problem to another? If I am not mistaken, VB 3.x is unsupported, so I don't think that will solve any problems for you.

If I was going to move I would go to the latest 4.x version.
I will never install an Internet Brand product. If the worst should happen, I will keep to use XenForo & vBulletin 3.x at least for 2-3 years then change to an open source script.

To go back to your question: XenForo seems faster than vB 3.8, but that's only a feeling.

The vast majority of my users complain that they have adapted to Xf even after 9 months of use.

As much as I hate to admit it, the look of Vbulletin pleases me more, for more than a skin mount for the XF, comparing it seems less polished. Compared to the two systems, the XF has some things that'll really miss ... then I get this question.

Regarding the development of Vb 3.8 have been stopped, the support is still provided, see the release of a fix soon, but still have yet to upgrade to version 4 or 5 (I do not intend to do it at the moment, but who knows in the future) ..

Sorry to ask, but is it a joke? vBulletin 3.x is using themes with tables whereas XenForo is using a clean css architecture. I don't care to promote XenForo, I don't earn anything doing this, but what you're saying is not logical at all. For templates and theme system (and code structure... too... and plugins too...) XenForo is 100 times better than vB 3.8.

Now I can't compare with IB vB 4.x. I've never used it.

By the way, what is the purpose of your thread? Comparing the speed of scripts?

The purpose is to compare the speed of the scripts ... even with different proposals ..

The comparative tables and CSS is essential for me, since I intend to eliminate the use of processing on the user machine .. which in this case would be the responsibility solely of the server ... gaining in rendering speed.

My mobile segment requires that I have over 700 forums (at this point the XF is not the best), but at the same time I need script extremely fast due to the quality of the internet and the use of low cost micros in my country.

You can easily check that on the server side XenForo is using a really small of amount of queries to access the database. The new versions of vBulletin seem to be worse and worse for this. Now if you want to compare with a script as Wordpress, XenForo still win. When I installed Wordpress (with a customised theme) I didn't except it will use over 75-80 queries...

I can't say more on how to optimize the cache or how to minify by default all Javascript and Css of your website, but there are some specialists here who might have the answers.

Speed is quicker than vB4 and slower than vB3 (at the same hard ware).
If you have a large forum, you need to optimize both (XF and vB) very hard.

Neither stock XF nor stock vB is usable for larger forums.

Before you downgrade, you should wait one more year. There are several options in the works that look promising. XF itself will most likely never come back and never again being developed like before the split of Mike and Kier occured.

A question, what are the Browser Statistics in your country?
If most of members are using old version of Internet Explorer, vBulletin 3.x should be faster.

I hate to break it to you, but all vbulletin frameworks are now internet brand products no matter what you think. ;)
