SOP to improve search results, beyond Elastic Search

Does anyone have a best practice/SOP for improving search results?

Step 1: Install Elastic search (and configure)

Define "improve", no really this is hard.

My ElasticSeach Essentials add-on allows weighing search by attributes like replies/reactions/views*, but it is a pain to tune and I really need to improve the integration into the elasticsearch setup UI.

*Currently working on an update which is XF2.2 compatible and also improving these options.
