sonnb - XenGallery (XenForo Gallery) [Deleted]

I found a more serious bug with the most recent version.

If Users are deleted their albums and pictures won't be deleted but instead get abandoned. Albums and pictures owned by a user should be deleted automatically if the user account gets deleted.
I would say if it was to be done - it should be an admin option to delete photos of a deleted user. Not sure this is a bug though.

If they won't be deleted they need to be assigned to another user or at least hidden from public view. Currently they are abandoned which makes it very hard to deal with them.

@sonnb, please tell if you consider this a bug (and take care of it) or not. If not, we need to code this deletion extension ourself, because each additional deleted user makes the situation more complicated currently.

In my opinion pictures of deleted users cannot be left abandoned and continued to be served to the public without any chance to administrativly handle them later.

Hey @sonnb I found a bug in the latest version. I made default picture privacy to be registered members only on a site-wide basis. When a member creates an album and selects 'everyone' as the default picture privacy for the entire album it does not work and instead follows the default that I set in AdminCP.

@HWS: Of course I will handle it in the next version. By the way, for currently deleted users, as an administrator, you can change their's privacy.

I will double check it.

Can you set my account there to allow uploading?

Oh I just realized the option I was talking about isn't there. The problem is that I have 'registered users' in Default Photo View Privacy in AdminCP. If a member intends to create a public album, guests won't be able to view photos in that album due to the default photo view that I set in AdminCP. Can you please add an option that will allow members to change the Default Photo View Privacy when creating an album?

My members never go to that page. It's mostly chicks on my site and I have a really hard time explaining things to them cause they're so used to Facebook. I hate to say it but can you PLEASE add that setting to the album creation page? This way when they create albums it will be easier for guests to view their pics if they allow to be set publically. They are not going to randomly go in their settings to do it.

Why not just set default photo's privacy to everyone? Please keep in mind that to be able to view the photos, they must have permission to view the album first. So keep album as Members Only or whatever you want but let photos as everyone.

I made a vote poll awhile back and 10 members voted to make the album section private and only one member (me) voted to make it public. None of my members want the gallery public. I had to compromise and make it so that although you can see some of the albums (most are member's only or followed only) as a guest, you can't see the photos in most of those public albums.

With that said, there will always be members who want their gallery pictures to be public but they won't know to set it in settings. The way it is now is not an intuitive process. Everything else with your gallery is perfect though.

I have nothing to disagree with you. Can you recheck my suggestion above? It will not break your current working way.

- Album: Member Only
- Photo: Everyone.
-> Guest cannot see photos inside this album.

Not a good idea because if albums are members only guest can't see any albums at all period.

I believe that you did not get my idea. They still can set their album's privacy while creating albums, right? My point is just making default photo's privacy as Everyone.

What should I do to gallery had other styles? When I turn the other styles, the gallery works in the default style. I have several styles and users can choose any style.Thank you.

It should be in that style unless you have set a specific styles in XenGallery's options.

The site is mostly private but if it's too private, guests can't see if there is any activity. The album view is set to public so guests can see that albums are actually being made. The photos are set to registered-only for both privacy and to encourage sign ups. This is a pretty common permissions setting among many websites such as rating/dating type sites for example.
