XF 1.5 Some ads responsive, some not...

I'm trying to use ads on my site, but making them responsive is really getting my goat. What I don't understand is that ads in the sidebar are fully responsive automatically, but ads that I put in other places aren't. http://www.556files.net/index.php

You will notice that the ad in the sidebar stays the same size relative to the sidebar regardless of screen size. That's what I want for all the ads. I know about the responsive adsense tutorial, but that's not what I'm wanting. I'm wanting all my ads in all templates to behave the same as this one, so that they're always the same size relative to the other elements on the screen.

Is there a code I can use to basically say that the ad will always display in proportion to the width of its container?

I'm sorry, but if the answer to my question is in there I'm not seeing it.

What I'm not understanding is why an image placed in the sidebar autosizes itself, whereas an image placed in other templates does not.

Again, I'm not wanting to do that. I just want to make the ads behave like the one in the sidebar. I'm at a complete loss as to why ads placed in the sidebar automatically resize in proportion to their container, yet ads placed anywhere else will break out of their containers.
