Social Groups for XenForo [Paid] [Deleted]

Hi! I have a strange issue and I am not sure if it's a bug or a missing feature.

When you make a group private (so it doesn't appear in the groups listings) it's also private to admins and staff - and there is absolutely no way for admins to know that group even exists! Not even in the admincp. Which means they can't be moderated, kept an eye on for trouble, manually pruned, etc, etc.

I haven't been able to reproduce it locally, sadly
I have not given up, but I only had a couple hours to work with add-ons over the weekend

I really wonder if this is the tinymce not initializing. I'll keep this posted as soon as I find something.

Anything on this yet?

I want to add a word of caution

I don't have access to XF1.2 yet, but just by reading the update list, I am expecting things to break. Even though the template hooks are still there, the editor is new (and this add-on is using the default editor). I tried my best to reuse default XenForo classes where it made sense, but a method signature can always change and suddenly you get PHP errors.

Please do not rush to update to 1.2 if this add-on is vital to you and you cannot afford to disable it.

I will download XF1.2 as soon as I have access along with the rest of customers, to properly test it, and to provide an update if needed.
As usual, I cannot provide a timeline, but rest assured I have a personal interest on upgrading my own sites to XenForo 1.2 and I absolutely need the add-ons to work.

Cool.

Just FYI in 1.2, Can't approve/reject new users on the main forum, get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method XfAddOns_Groups_LikeHandler_Post::batchUpdateContentUser() in /home/xxxxx/public_html/xen/library/XenForo/Model/User.php on line 2503

Also, obviously isn't responsive by design.

Hello @Rigel Kentaurus,

I have two questions about this addon.

1) Will you keep it updated to work with xenforo 1.2 when it is released?

2) Is there a way, or can you implement the feature, so that a category will display groups in the order of latest activity first (like a normal forum displays threads). So, as an example, here are a list of groups displayed in the category

Group A
Group B
Group C
Group D

If Group D is the latest group to have a new post in it, the order changes to

Group D
Group A
Group B
Group C

Another example, if group D has the latest post made to it, and group B has a post made to it just before, then the order changes again

Group D
Group B
Group A
Group C

I would like to use this addon as a blog. If you can get this feature working, it would suit my needs perfectly.

Thanks.

Purchased. I will use it as a blogging system.

Should I hold off installing it? When will the update for xF 1.2 be out?

Thanks.

I would like to point out some things in this add-on..

First: I made a private group with it and made it private to everything, although on the Group home, I can see on the right side that there was a thread regarding the private group. Hey that doesn't make it private. Needs to get fixed.

Second: I invited members to my group, and no notifications. You can only join if you go at the group's home and accept it. It should always go to alerts or inbox at least.

That is all,
Thank you!

I thought that was odd too - it seems logical that an invitation to a group would create an alert, to keep it in line with what happens on Facebook, which will be most people's reference point for how they expect groups to work. Could that feature be added in the future?

EDIT: one other thing I'd love would be the ability to have a group where users can apply to join, subject to moderator approval (as currently happens for a moderated group) but a moderator can also invite people. That'd be more flexible and still makes sense in terms of permissions.

All this said, I bought this addon, I love it, and I think it's the best Groups addon for XF by far, even without the couple of extra features I'd really like :)

I feel that my money is not worth that it has this kind of problem. It's too expensive with not so awesome feature. I hope it can get fixed soon.
