So who's going to migrate their LIVE site to 1.2

imo, the natives are just getting restless as it's been 2 weeks since we got our first taste of it here and on pins and needles to get it on to our own test boards.

You could assume that TMS and a lot of the spam-related add-ons might be incompatible, given the introduction of template merging and the new spam add-ons. Also perhaps Syndol's Conversation Essentials.

An approach to take would be to assume all add-ons are incompatible.

No because it's still a pre-release beta and things may change, so I don't want to give out inaccurate information.

The reason for my post was just to reinforce my earlier post in the thread that upgrading straight away is strongly discouraged.

I normally upgrade regardless straight away but from reading newsletters for some add-ons it's advice i'll be taking and thoroughly testing first when the public release comes.

I had already decided that I was going to just wait it out (everything is running just fine now) until all the add-ons I use were updated (or were superseded

I'll be happy to let ya'll be the guinea pigs! Mine is running just fine now and feel no need to rush out and grab the latest toy (even to test on the server in the back room).

I'm trimming a lot with all the new great features in 1.2. I'll basically be down to add-ons only by Chris, Bobster, Luke and Jake.

It's been interesting watching the changes take place since the initial 1.2 alpha roll-out; the feedback and suggestions, the little tweaks here and there (all of which make it a more solid product [IMHO]) - and all in a matter of a few days.

Even though it's still in beta it feels, well, ready I suppose is the right word! (y)

All of my sites use at least one addon for spam management that might or might not still be needed with 1.2, most have skins, several require critical addons like XenTag & the BB code manager, most use a sitemap generator. Until things things fall into place, they won't be updated. I'm tempted to wait for 1.2.1 to get in the first bug fix release as well. But all will be updated, which will mean a bunch of license renewals by the time 1.2.1 rolls around.

Once possible exception is a company alumni site where my former coworkers are busy scanning photos to upload. Drop & drag might come in very handy for them.

I will launch a NEW 1.2 site as soon as I can get my hands on 1.2 -- this will replace a phpBB forum for a civil rights site that got royally bushwacked by spammers last near.

You have access to 1.2?
Hey! No fair! :(
You me and me both... :p

I love it! Let's put this in some perspective for those perhaps less familiar with formal software release cycles. We've been using what was billed as late alpha/early beta quality software. This is an indication that they are transitioning into the beta phase with test installations by a few insiders. The installation & upgrade process has to be tested as well as the running forum system, and they appear to be doing that. :)

I'm always available to beta-test a new installation. :D

Well also Brogan is XF staff...and well hes Brogan. He would probably get the beta of all new versions.

To re-itterate Brogans point... 1.2 will break things.

We spent most of the day hammering out bugs with Mike... oh... there was a lot of broken things :(

Take it slow, do your test upgrades.

I also suggest disabling all addons/listeners for the upgrade, then bringing things back in once the devs have confirmed they work with 1.2.

Damn it.. Even went and checked, your post made it sound as the moment had arrived at last, but members area was still 1.1.5 as latest.
