I see many emotes / smilies used on the Xenforo site when I want to make a post. I see they are in groups as well. How can I add them to my forum?

ACP --> Setup --> Options --> Messages set the setting "Show emoji in smilie menu"

If it's a forum upgraded from XF 1.x you will need to convert your database first:

Emoji and unicode support | XenForo

XenForo 2 supports full unicode text, which means that emoji can be used in almost all locations that users can enter text.
