I think it would be a good idea to parse smiles/emojis in profile posts.

Emojis are usable in profile posts and comments (everywhere that accepts text). Other than that, smilie support is an existing suggestion:

May not help you out much but with XF2 if you switched your DB to support emoji's then inserting emojis work in profile posts. It'd be nice if XF smilies were supported but in the interim there is a slight work-around at least.
