Hello
I just bought Xenforo and uploaded it to my webhost - Siteground
Wow it s a big install
It took me over one hour using CoreFTP lite to uplaod the install folder.

But now I cannot run the intsal program probably due to the way I set it up on Siteground.
But I cannot get any support from Sitegorund eg lodge a ticket or get live chat.
They have just changed their website and its impossible to find anything.
I got a great live chat person the other day, but I cannot find LiveChat now.
Any suggestions please?

What do you mean by "the install folder"? You should have uploaded everything included in the "upload" folder (but not the upload folder itself").

I am pretty certain that I only uploaded everything in the "Upload folder"
I am having problems trying to start the Install process , when I direct my broswer to the install directory as per the installation guide, I get a 404 page not found error.
(Lastly I think that Sitegrounds support is back, maybe it was a Sunday!)

If you are getting a 404, then the files aren't where you think you uploaded them.

I recommend uploading a simple text file to where you think the domain resolves and if you can see it then you can move the XF files to that location.

I use the check script for this purpose when doing customer installation - https://xenforo.com/xenforo-requirements-test.zip

Hi Brogan
Its a bit all beyond me.
My webhost support are not that up with Xenforo
Do you think I should press them for more help
or should I lodge a Xenforo ticket
or should offer to pay a Xenforo comminuty memebr to fix it for me?

I am sure I have uploaded the files correctly
And I changed some of the folders to 777 as advised, but still no luck
I am used to seeing files such as setup.exe.
Not the 3 php ones that seem to be in the install folder.

All you need to do is upload the files to the domain root or directory, and navigate to the URL/install.

Thanks but its not that easy with my webhoster Site ground.
They have their own version of Cpanel and the setup is a bit different.

My domain name is www.nzissues.com
Then I have a public_html folder
then nziusses again
Then community

Ask your host what the path on the server is which corresponds to the URL where you want the forum to be.

yes, but what is my path?
I wish I had not gone with Siteground as my host, but I had to make a decision in a hurry.

The path is where you uploaded it to. The domain plus any folder or root. If you followed the posts above and navigate to /install and it is there you have uploaded correctly.

Thanks guys
But I have tried it about 50 times, and all I get a a big message saying error 404 page not found.

Does the Xenfor installaton progra just need a php file to start?
I am used to seeing setup.exe's etc

I can see it using my FTP program, but not when i use my browser.

Hi Beerforo
Are you saying that it is not uploaded correctly ?
Have you had a look?
It took me over one hour to upload the files using my CoreFTP light.

I would do it again, but I want to make sure its exactly the right place
This is driving me crazy.

Hi
I finally got the my forum going.
Well actually I got one of the guys from my Webhost to do it.
It took him all day, but he told me that the problem was that when I set up the community folder I used an upper case C
So now I am stuck with that.

So thanks for all your attention in trying to get me going.

I should have checked that my filehost had cpanel, I just naturally assumed that it would.
I have heard that some hosts are no longer using cpanel as they put their prices up, and they want a bit of flexibility.

And yes I have learned that choosing a host is not just about price and speed. (not that that influenced me too much) You also need to check their service (c panel, pesk etc) and their sites layout and their support
