Siteground Starter Package

Hi,
I'm planning on buying a Xenforo license and am looking at starter hosting packages to test my forum. Would you recommend the Siteground Starter Package to do this?

Looks like usual Linux hosting with cPanel. That should work fine.

Thanks. Just discovered that they charge $50 to install Xenforo Software, though.

Installing XenForo is very easy.

It's a matter of creating a database and user, uploading the files and clicking a few buttons.

You don't need their services. Read up basic tutorials on how to setup database with cPanel, how to upload files via FTP and you should be able to install it yourself. There should be plenty of those tutorials on web because cPanel is the most popular hosting control panel.

I've decided to go with Nimbus as Siteground initially said they couldn't host Xenforo on their starter package, then said they could, but were not familiar with Xenforo software...it didn't inspire confidence. Nimbus seem to specialise in Xenforo and they install for free...being a total newbie in these things, I'd prefer it if they did it for me.

Good move NinaMcI, I too was a total newbie, still am actually and thought I could install Xenforo cause I too was told it was just a few click and a few buttons, wrong. It was a disaster. So like you I chose a host who installed it for me for free as part of the package. All these professionals around here make it sound easy but if you're just starting out it can be a challenge. JMO..
