XF 2.1 Site always goes down for a few minutes when an addon is installed

It seems to happen even with an empty addon that's just a few kb with nothing added but one class extension. It also seems to happen on my demo xf that is installed on the same domain.

Any help to identify the posstible culprit? Usually my load is between 2-4 even at peak times with 8k people online.

Every single add-on update is a pain

Sice 2.1, every single update, small or big, is a pain in the arse and it is driving me crazy. I was about to post the importing template data but I got a better pic that is worth a thousand words: A nice view from the server where the load is craz high:

When upgrading 3rd party themes, server load goes nuts! Confirmed with two different themes from different devs. Load Averages: 142.04 122.49 79.36 And it takes more than 10 minutes to upgrade a theme! There was no such issue with 2.0..

Looks what I experienced last year.
I had the same problems - also when changing something in a style drove the server cracy.
Ultimately I went to another host, even cheaper abo, but with 8 processors and 6GB ram instead of 1 processor and 1 GB.
Never looked back!

We recently ran into this same thing.

We had installed new relic which was causing the timeouts on any extension install. See if u have anything like that on the server.

I had problems mostly with IO operatios and Input/Output Usage. DB usage included, only if restricted
I had server restrictions almost every day.

But for me that is a thing from the past.

I forgot to mention that changing host for me resulted in a much faster site and mobile internet jumped from 61 tot 84!

Does it also happen when updating a style template?

It was doing it for me, but after adding a cache and switching from Apache to LiteSpeed it was better.
