Simple CMS for customers.

Many of my customers are local businesses with simple websites and no need for fully fledged CMS systems. Nor do I want to spend the time integrating full CMS systems with these bread and butter HTML websites.

However, in recent weeks, many of them want to have the ability to update text on their site as they have seen the 1+1 easy website advert.

Anyways, as such i've been looking for simple solutions to give them these options. I seem to have narrowed it down to these... Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them first hand?

Nuggetz - http://www.nuggetz.co.uk/
Pros: Very intuative see it and edit it sytle of system, free
Cons: Some options not entirely apparent or easy to see.

Perch - http://grabaperch.com/
Pro's - Simple to use, good admin, addons, custom brandable
Con's - Small fee to buy per site.

Pluse CMS - http://pulsecms.com/
Pro's - Solid admin, simple yet good feature set
Con's - Not overly user-friendly admin, small purchase fee

Couch CMS - http://www.couchcms.com/
Pro's - Designed to be retro-fitted to old sites, good feature set, nice admin, rebrandable
Con's - Purchase fee

GetSimple CMS - http://get-simple.info/
Pro's - Great admin, lots of support, easy to understand
Con's - Sites would have to be re-coded rather than retro-fitted.

Just wondering if anyone knows any others I could look at, or if they've used any of the above and can reccomend them?

Thanks

Have you looked at PyroCMS (http://www.pyrocms.com/) at all? It's my current favourite CMS for any new projects I start.

Their website alone is enough to make me say forget it! However, if its a solid system I cant ignore it.

From your experience, how easily could I retro-fit it to existing html sites and whats the management of content like?

It's not too hard to retro-fit it, though it may be a PITA for complex layouts due to it using the MVC structure. The content management is good though. It's supremely easy to use for just about anybody and offers a great deal of control.

My newest discovery is Impress Page. Haven't tried it out tho. From the presentation, it looks very similar to that . . . drag and drop online cms I can't seem to recall the name.

Pablo software has got to be the best with the most features, CMS and great photo editing. Def worth demo-ing. I have at least 117 add ons already. Able to merge and split pic projects and then save as total image. This software is better than dreamweaver, MUCH easier to use and only $44 bucks. It is a WYSIWYG but you can import HTML and all the rest of that jargon I know little about. LOL

Very easy to use, great interface, good forum. Easy cms for customers.

Massive list of extension here. http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=21051

Word Press

I've seen whole web site use it and you'd never know it was Word Press. Local news here uses it for their site

www.wggb.com

That's all Word Press, even with live streaming video and radar.

Word Press is free, open source, and very customizable.

Xenforo CMS should attempt to compete in this area. Xenforo CMS should be able to function *WITHOUT* the Xenforo forum. Or that the forum can be all but entirely disabled. As Slavik suggests, there is a need for a simple CMS that small businesses can update themselves.

Joomla/Drupal? I personally prefer EE - thought that comes at a premium.

Simple = Wordpress.
Might be able to update it from their iphones.
(Wordpress for iphones).

Joomla, drupal and wordpress don't match my requirements. Plus, the last time I looked at Joomla the code was a mess, drupal was hardly "user friendly" and wordpress would require too much time to convert, and I offer wordpress services as one of my packages, so I wouldn't be using it for "simple" anyway.

Will have a look

Slavik.. With Pablo's software, almost all of the extensions are free or already included in purchase. Plus adding or upgrading extensions is done through builder. It really is amazing software.

If you get lucky some of these smaller CMSes will be around in a few years.
Wordpress has many advantages due to it's size.
It isn't "simple" but it's a great companion for Xenforo .... and the Wordpress Xenforo bridge is great.
