What if after registering they still don't have permission to upload resources?

The button is permission based so it makes no sense to display it to guests if they still won't have permission to upload even after they register.

then the button will be grey-colored, same as when you are not allowed to download resources.

You are enticing guests to sign up by suggesting that they can add a resource.

Only for them to still not be able to add a resource?

At the least it's misleading, at the worst you're going to alienate/annoy any member who signs up.

well, you could make the button grey-colored from the beginning (so the button in the screenshot above would be grey instead of blue).
It's already like this if you want to download resources, you see a grey-colored-button, when you click onto it you are being forwarded to the Log-in/Register-page.

it is already the same if you click the Download-button when you want to download a Resource here.

So why would it be O.K. to show a "permission based button" for Downloading, but not O.K. to display a "permission based button" for uploading Resources ?
