I never expected the iPad to be a replacement for a laptop so I don't use it that way. However I have no problem with browsing the web and checking up on things because the screen size is large enough for this, as opposed to my Android phone. I primarily use the iPad to read news (FlipBoard and Pulse are awesome), check Facebook, quick emails, access maps and get use this for GPS directions, and of course play games - which in my opinion is where the iPad really shines. You can get some very decent games for free or just a few dollars. Why is this? What is better about using your iPad then your laptop?
Why do you love it, Steve?
Also some of the kids apps and books are truly great on the iPad. I've purchased most of the Dr. Seuss books and my granddaughter loves them, as well as some really nice games for toddlers.
Personally I think the iPad is not even close to reaching it's potential. For instance I could see it as a replacement for college textbooks. Imagine having all your textbooks on one device, with interactive tools and even built-in homework problems and tests which can be submitted electronically. And these books can be updated regularly with the latest info. And once the iPad has cameras (front and back), it can be used for video calls.
It all boils down to what you expect from the device. If you expect a replacement for a laptop, then you will probably be disappointed. However for me, it does every I expected it to, plus more.
