XF 2.3 Set light variation as default for guests

I just went to Google in incognito and it was the white page version and my system is dark mode.
Google (and YouTube) require a page refresh to pick up the system color scheme, I imagine as the result of some technical debt on their part. Even if they have already applied the dark mode preference and you switch your system preference to light mode, it will remain in dark mode for the next page load.

That's fair enough but the FB example still stands as well as other sites I visit. Are you guys considering letting us control the option to non-members? Or will we have to use a work-around?
It's not about what you like more :)
If it's all about what the user likes can you please enable post deletion here on XF? 😂

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that respecting/disrespecting user light/dark preferences is an accessibility issue for users with vision issues. If the user wants dark and you force light, one could make the case that you're basically adding deliberate obstacles for persons with certain disabilities.

No one is saying that, the selector is available to guests:

I think that @StarArmy is right - by intentionally ignoring user preference initially things do / might get more complicated for users with impaired vision.

IMHO the approach taken by XenForo is best as it fully follows user preference, this is how prefers-color-scheme was intended and how it should work.

But I can understand why admins want to set a default for CI / CD reasons.
