A rumor floating around for a while now was webhostingtalk.com (WHT) might be moving to xenForo from vB3.8. Just a few minutes ago, the WHT forum was taken offline and a splash page at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ that just simply says...

    WHT is still a thing?

    Will wonders never cease!

I'll have to go visit when they re-open. It's been a long time since I've had the pleasure of reading those thought provoking threads. Like, "HOW I CAN DEDI BOX FOR SIXTEEN CENTS P/YEAR???" Or, "I CAN"T BELIEVE BRAND-NEW-FLY-BY-NIGHT-CPANEL HOST SUX SO BADS AND SCREWED UP MY DATAS!"

I've always found WHT quite useful, although saying that, I did get scammed by one of their long time members once, which sucked.
Saved up for a few years to get some dev work done, he took the money and ran.
Still, will be nice if they do move to XF!

As far as the value of WHT, it depends on what you want to do. Not all reviews are great, but hey look at Yelp. Successful review application, but you still get people who review restaurants with "Food was awesome!" or "Ugh, took me forever to find parking, 1 star!". If you're like me and provide services to web hosts, it's a great place to be :).

Now as for this...I've noticed the favicon for the site now looks to be vBulletin. I think it's vB5 style too, so...I don't think so...

As far as I know, they are just upgrading to vBulletin 4 (they were using vBulletin 3.x).

A wordpress/XF mix perhaps? the logo is in a wordpress directory.

Look at their favicon... it's the default vB4 favicon... it might confirm that they are just upgrading to vB4.

Ah Firefox just shows me the "W" symbol as a bookmark/fav icon.

    ...and yea, it's VB4, what a shame

At least they didn't go one step further and "upgrade" to vbulletin 5 :)

Was thinking the same, it's like revisiting those old Geocities websites, lol.

They are back live and it is indeed vB 4 :( Saw a thread from one of the Admins and they claimed xF wasn't powerful enough for WHT ....

Wow, ok. I won't say that VB4 isn't powerful enough, but it really feels like a step backwards in time... should've just stayed on VB3. :p

Nice...upgrade from one end of life software package, to another end of life software package with an uglier layout.

I just tried accessing their site and got a 503 error. I hope that's not a sign of things to come!

It's up and down constantly tbh. It's been like it for a few days.
