RTF Specification for Xen Foro

A colleague sent me a link to this specification Rich Text Formatting. I have searched, but been unable to find a reference indicating what specification XF uses for storing rich text. Is it the RTF Specification at this link?

XF stores post content in plain text. So this text:
This text which is bold and finishes in italics too

Would be stored like this in the database:
[b]This text which is bold [i]and finishes in italics too[/i][/b]

And that bb code is then rendered on page load using the bb code system into HTML.
