XF 2.2 Route filter works except when trying to post

I set up a route filter, exactly the same as I have for previous ones that work. This one, the forum page works (an article forum) but when you click to post a thread you get:

Oops! We ran into some problems.
The requested page could not be found.

And the URL is correct in the browser for posting a thread.

Rebuild master data does not work.
