XF 2.2 Rewrite Issue?

I am trying to test 2.3 so setup a test site as described at https://xenforo.com/community/resources/how-to-duplicate-a-live-site-to-use-as-a-test-site.2792/ (although I put mine in a directory of /beta instead of /test as I already had something in /test.


I went in and changed my board url to poiint to the /beta directory and the homepage comes up and works fine and its coming on on the beta site which is good.

The bad is part is when I click on any links on the site it tries going to ...

website.com/beta/forums/forumname
website.com/beta/threads/threadname
website.com/beta/members/membername

Getting a 404 error as there is no forums, threads, or members directory.

I am sure its a rewrite issue. I just can't remember what to do. I did copy my .htaccess file from the live site to the test site.

I am having a brain fart can anyone help?

They aren't directories, they are routes.

Typically that issue occurs if friendly URLs is enabled and there's no .htaccess file or the server is not configured.

It's hard to say what the actual issue is without seeing the site.

I figured it out. Cpanel overwrote my .htaccess file when I added password protection for the directory.

Your demo site is working fine.

Your main site URL is being rewritten to https://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/ . and no links other than the index page work.
