RM 1.2 Retrospectively upload files to text-only resource

We've got some article type resource entries on our site, where the author has requested to upload a zip file to the resource entry at a later date. However, it doesn't appear to be possible to retrospectively upload a file (other than images for the resource).

Is this possible and I've just missed how to do this? Or, once the resource has been set as "Does not have a file" when created, is it not possible to change?

Unfortunately changing the resource type isn't an option in the 1.x versions of the RM -- it is in 2.0 though.
